Indiana primaries are rapidly approaching

The May 3rd Primary Election is rapidly approaching.

The major parties (Democratic and Republican) will nominate candidates for the following offices at the Primary Election:
• U.S. House of Representatives (all 9 seats)
• Judges of the circuit and superior courts in several counties
• Treasurer, County Coroner, County Surveyor, County Assessor, County Commissioner, County Sheriff, Prosecuting Attorney, and County Council Member in several counties
• Town Council members, town clerk-treasurers,

Flight mask mandate lifted

According to the Associated Press, Major airlines and many of the busiest airports rushed to drop their mask requirements yesterday after the Biden administration’s mandate was overturned by the US district judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle in Tampa, who judged the rule as exceeding the authority of US health officials in the coronavirus pandemic.

She added that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had failed to justify its decision and did not follow proper rulemaking procedures.

BSU hits new donation record

According to the One Ball State Website, Ball State was able to raise $1,012,653 and received 7,199 gifts.

Changes coming to the village

According to a press release by Ball State, The Ball State University Board of Trustees took a major step on Friday to advance a long-term, phased revitalization plan for the Village.

Governor Holcomb vetoes bill targeting transgender athletes

HB 1041, authored by representative Michelle Davis and sponsored by 7 senators including Sen. Staccey Donato, Jean Leising, Jack Sandlin, and Dennis Kruse, would ban transgender girls from girls’ sports teams K-12 has officially been vetoed, making it so it doesn’t go into law.

Crisis in Ukraine

The invasion of Ukraine at the hands of Vladimir Putin has commenced.

According to the Associated Press, Russia launched a wide-ranged attack on Ukraine, hitting cities and bases with airstrikes or shelling. Civilians have been piling into trains and cars in attempts to flee the areas and Ukraine’s government said Russian tanks and troops rolled across the border in a “full-scale war.”

Indiana house bill 1116 latest in controversial Indiana bills

House Bill 1116, authored by Representative Timothy Wesco, Co-authored by representative Timothy O’Brien and Representative Ethan Manning, and sponsored by Senator Jon Ford, passed out of the Senate elections committee on Monday, despite clear opposition from Democrats.

According to the Indiana General Assembly website, House Bill 1116 deals with electronic voting machines that can change the date by which a county must provide a voter-verifiable paper audit trail for electronic voting systems

House Bill 1134, authored by rep. Anthony Cook, co-authored by Rep. J.D. Prescott and Chuck Goodrich, sponsored by Sen. Linda Rogers, passed the Indiana House on a 60-37 vote on Wednesday night with 9 Republicans joining House Democrats to oppose the bill. The Bill is now headed to the Senate.
